Helen Farnsworth Mears Art Contest
We are proud to offer our Student Art Contest for 7th & 8th grade students in Waukesha County, including Homeschool students ages 12-14. There is no fee for entry. One entry per category per student for two-dimensional & three-dimensional projects.
This competition celebrates a sculptor named Helen Farnsworth Mears born in Oshkosh in 1872. In 1903, the Woman's Club of Milwaukee gave Helen $500 to represent Wisconsin at the first Worlds Fair, showing a 9-foot-tall sculpture that Helen created in middle school. The General Federation of Women's Clubs in Wisconsin has offered this competition to middle
school children in her honor since 1927.
